'Suspicious Bag' Cause Ongoing Rail Disruption
Further delays are expected to rail services in and out of Manchester Piccadilly station following an incident on Thursday night.
It is understood that a suspicious bag was found on Kirkmanshulme Lane just before 20:30 last night.
National Rail Enquiries reported cancellations and delays of up to 30 minutes to, from and through the station.
V&A And NGS Save Sculpture 'For The Nation'
London's V&A museum and the National Galleries of Scotland have saved classical sculpture, Campbell Sisters Dancing a Waltz, for the nation.
The sculpture by Lorenzo Bartolini depicts the lives of fashionable and wealthy Britons in Florence in the early 19th Century.
The sculpture had previously been sold to an overseas buyer, but was stopped from leaving the UK to allow time for the sale price to be matched by a UK bidder.
A group of arts charities helped raise the required £500,000.
China Bans Welsh Crab Imports
An import ban has been imposed on Welsh crab by China, amid claims that they contain a "metallic contaminant".
The Hong Kong-based Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced an embargo on the sea creatures and warned people on Wednesday not to eat them.
The CFS said samples it had collected from the isle had "excessive" cadmium.

Legal Action Taken Over Cumbrian Rail Crash
It has been revealed that Network rail is to be prosecuted over the Cumbrian rail crash back in 2007, which claimed one life. The rail regulation body, The Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) has said that they have started legal proceedings against Network Rail for a breach of health and safety law.

High Speed Rail Network Gets Backing
A government committee has announced that a high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham has a "good case". The announcement comes after the Government carried out a public consultation on the proposal and the recommended route for an initial high-speed line from London to the West Midlands.

Scottish Rail Strike Suspended
Scottish rail services are expected to return to normal after talks between Network Rail and the Rail Maritime and Transport (RMT) union lead to a suspension of the 24-hour strike scheduled for noon.

Firms accept liability for Potters Bar rail crash
In a joint statement made today Network Rail and Jarvis plc have formally accepted liability for the 2002 Potters Bar rail crash. Network Rail and Jarvis said they hoped that by "formalising the liability issue, those affected by the tragedy will gain some level of comfort and assistance".

Fallen Power Lines Cause Major Delays On Key Rail Route
Fallen overhead power lines have major delays on one of UK’s key railway routes, with thousands of passengers being advised not to travel. The east coast mainline between London and Peterborough has not been able to run any trains following a power line failure in St Neots in Cambridgeshire.
