Eight Arrested In Weapons Importation Investigation

Seven men and a woman have been arrested following an investigation into the importation of firearms.

Officers from the National Crime Agency's Armed Operations Unit and Kent Police made the arrests on Tuesday, 11 August.

Three men and a woman were arrested at Cuxton Marina, while three men were detained at a location in Orpington and one at an address in Swanley.

All eight are now being questioned by NCA investigators.

A number of potentially viable firearms and ammunition were seized near the marina. They are now being tested forensically.

The investigation, which relates to the criminal use of firearms, continues.

Eight Men Arrested Following Dawn Raids
Over 100 police officers have carried out a series of raids concerning child sexual exploitation offences in Oxford. Eight men were arrested following the raids at 6am this morning 2 June. Police are investigating approximately 60 offences in connection with the operation relating to female victims in Oxford between 1999 and 2007.

Three men arrested in anti-terrorism investigation
Three men have been arrested under anti-terrorism laws in Scotland. The men, Mohammed Asif Siddique, 24, and Mohammed Rafiq, 40, were detained at an address in Alva, Clackmannanshire. The two men are understood to be the older brother and uncle of 20-year-old Mohammed Atif Siddique was arrested under the Terrorism Act in the same town on April 13.

Elderly Woman Attacked By Robbers
An elderly woman suffered a broken nose when she was thrown to the floor by robbers as she walked home from the shops. The 78-year-old woman was recovering in hospital today after the ordeal in a busy Solihull street yesterday morning.

Two More Men Arrested In Islamist-Related Terrorism Investigation
Two more men have been arrested as part of Islamist-related terrorism investigation, according to the Metropolitan Police. It comes after the arrests of nine men, including radical cleric Anjem Choudary, on Thursday. The Met say that two men, aged 33 and 42, were arrested on the M6 near Rugby in Warwickshire.

Three Arrested Following 'Kidnap' Plot
Three men have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, West Midlands Police has confirmed. The arrests come after an investigation into false and malicious information given to the force on 8 December 2014. The information said that an officer was going to be kidnapped as part of a terrorist plot.
