Two Police Officer Dismissed For Gross Misconduct
Two police constables have been dismissed without notice following Special Case Hearings.
Andrew Ott, 36, an officer attached to Lewisham Borough, faced allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of: Use of force; Dishonesty and Integrity; Discreditable Conduct and Authority; Respect and Courtesy.
Police report that on 19 May PC Ott appeared at Southwark Crown Court and was convicted of causing actual bodily harm during a student protest in December 2010, following an Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation.
He was sentenced to eight months imprisonment.
The Chair found all of the allegations proven as gross misconduct.
In a separate hearing, Robert Lamey, 49, attached to Westminster Borough, faced allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of the Standards of Professional Behaviour in respect of: Authority, Respect and Courtesy and Discreditable Conduct.
On Wednesday, 21 January the officer was made the subject of a restraining order. Whilst off duty, on two separate occasions the officer breached the restraining order by contacting his ex-partner by telephone and text message.
On Wednesday 20 May, PC Lamey was sentenced at Bexley Magistrates' Court to 24 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. He was additionally ordered to pay court costs of £345 and attend a rehabilitation course.
The Chair found all of the allegations proven as gross misconduct.

Met Officers Suspended Following 'Water Torture' Claims

A Thames Valley Police officer has been dismissed after reports he indecently assaulted a colleague while off duty. Detective Sergeant Mark Brashaw faced a gross misconduct hearing after allegations of indecent assault on two separate occasions in July 2013 and January 2014.

AK-47 Magistrate Removed From Post
A magistrate who posted a picture of himself posing with an AK-47 rifle on Twitter has been dismissed from his role. Ajit Atwal posed for the photo while on holiday in India in 2013. He was suspended from his role as a magistrate in April after the picture appeared in a national newspaper in March.
