Driver Urged To Come Forward In Norwich Hit-And-Run Investigation
Police have appealed for the driver of a light-coloured Nissan thought to have been involved in a suspected hit-and-run in Oldbury last week.
Police have issued the appeal following the death of Anthony Maskell (50). Mr Maskell was walking along the dual carriageway on Birchfield Lane just before midnight on 30 July when he was involved in a collision – just outside the Whiteheath Tavern.
He was immediately taken to hospital with a serious head injury but died the following day.
Investigating officers are now urging the driver of a car thought to be involved to come forward so they can give Mr Maskell’s family the answers they need.
PC Karl Davies from the Collision Investigation Unit said: "Mr Maskell’s sudden death has left a hole in his family’s life and they are anxious to find out exactly what happened that evening.
"They are currently being supported by specially trained officers as we work to piece together the circumstances of their loved one’s death.
"From debris left at the scene and CCTV footage, we believe the car involved was a light-coloured Nissan and I would urge the driver to do the right thing and contact us as soon as possible so they can explain what happened.
"I am also keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision or noticed a Nissan with fresh damage in the days following the collision."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
