Man Jailed For 18 Years For Sexual Assault Of Child
A 56-year-old man has been jailed for 18 years for 10 counts of sexually abusing a girl under the age of 13.
Dean Roland Paddock, of Langbury Lane, Ferry, appeared at Lewes Crown Court to face charges of four rapes and six sexual assaults, committed against the same victim over a period of three years, starting in 2010, while she was aged between nine and 12.
Paddock pleaded not guilty, however a jury convicted him of all charges.
In addition to his prison sentence, Paddock was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders' register.
After the trial, Detective Constable Rebecca Hazzard, of the force's child protection team, said: "This was one of the most complex and harrowing cases of sexual abuse I have ever investigated.
"The long custodial sentence imposed on Paddock reflected the gravity of the crimes committed."
Det Con Hazzard hoped it would show other victims of sexual abuse that it was worthwhile coming forward to police, and she encouraged them to do so.

A 39-year-old man who raped a man during a job interview has been jailed for six years. Sebastian Szerer, of Alexander Road, Wimbledon, was convicted of one count of rape at the Old Bailey and sentenced to six years in jail on Thursday, 30 July.
