Third Body Found At Bosley Mill Site
A third body has been found at the site of the Wood Flour Mills in Bosley, Cheshire, police have confirmed.
Last Friday (17 July), an explosion and fire destroyed the four-storey building, causing it to collapse. Four people were trapped inside the building. Search and recovery teams have been on the site since the incident to try and locate those who have been reported missing.
In a statement, Cheshire Constabulary said that Wednesday (22 July) was a "significant day for action", with the removal of three silos. This allowed the search and recovery operation to continue work at a section of the site previously indicated by search dogs. The investigation led to the discovery of a third body. Formal identification has not been carried out as forensic tests are needed to corroborate their identification.
Efforts are continuing to locate those still unaccounted for.
A joint investigation is under way between police, fire and the Health & Safety Executive to establish the cause of the incident.
Assistant Chief Constable Guy Hindle said: "We continue to work with our colleagues in very difficult conditions with ongoing risks – it is an extremely complex scene to examine and we've not yet got full access to all of it.
"Each agency has a wide range of expertise and we are working hard together to find the missing people. In the meantime we are interviewing witnesses and gathering other evidence, all of which will form the investigation."
