Woman Attacked By Man After Car Flagged Down In Sussex
A woman has been attacked and dragged into an alleyway by a man after he flagged down her car in Sussex.
At approximately 8:30pm on 22 July, the 21-year-old victim was driving on Fontwell Road in Selsey when a man waved at her, signalling for her to stop.
He told her there was a problem with her car, but when she got out to inspect the vehicle the man grabbed her.
He dragged her into an alleyway that runs between Fontwell Road and Gillway.
The woman managed to fight the man off and got back into her car to escape.
The attacker then fled down the alleyway towards Gillway.
The victim suffered cuts and bruises in the incident.
Police have now sent extra patrols to the area looking for the suspect.
A police helicopter is also being used in the search.
Detective Inspector Alan Pack said: "We need to find this man urgently because he is clearly a danger to the public.
"It could be that he has a vehicle but the fact that he was willing to take such a risk as attacking a woman in daylight suggests he may know the area and knew what his escape route would be.
"If he lived locally he could have been home within a few minutes so if he lives with someone they may have noticed that he looked like he had been running or seemed distracted when he returned."
The man is described as white and was wearing a cap and tracksuit bottoms.
