15-Year-Old Arrested Over Fatal Hit-And-Run

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run death in Birmingham last week.

Zainib Bibi (68) was hit by a white Fiat Marea on Tuesday 14 July in Burney Lane , Alum Rock and despite the best efforts of medical staff, died later that day.

It is understood that the teenager came forward to police and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following an appeal for information. He was later bailed pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Alan Wood said: "I would like to thank the members of public that have contacted us to assist with this investigation so far and would encourage anyone else with any other information that could assist to please contact us, enquiries into the collision are still continuing at this time"

"Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time, they are being supported by specially trained officers"

Further Appeal Made For Farooq's Murder
Detectives have recovered a five and a half inch-bladed kitchen knife and a house brick which were used in the attack on Dr Imran Farooq in Edgware two weeks ago. The knife and brick were found in Green Lane where 50-year-old Dr Farooq was assaulted shortly before 5:30pm on Thursday, 16 September.

Death Threat Rapist Jailed
A man who threatened to kill his victim has been jailed for raping the 45-year-old woman in Wigan. Daniel Ellis, 20, of Severn Road, Wigan, was given an indeterminate sentence of imprisonment for public protection at Liverpool Crown court, (pictured).

Claudia Lawrence Investigation: Man Arrested
Police investigating the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence have arrested a man from the York area on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. The man, 46, is currently being interviewed in police custody while searches and forensic enquiries are being carried out.

Northumbria Police Renew Rape Investigation Appeal
Police investigating an attempted rape in Newcastle have issued a new appeal for information. On September 3 in 2014 a report was received of an attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl. It's believed the incident happened in the park opposite Bedeburn Road and Newbiggin Lane in Newcastle sometime in May.

Appeal Continues Into Newcastle Rape
Police in Newcastle are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about a sexual offence to come forward. The incident happened between 1.30am and 1.50am on Saturday, December 17, on Barrack Road in the west end of Newcastle, when a 27-year-old woman had been walking along the road, near to Leazes Park.
