Woman Wanted In Connection With Birmingham Hit-And-Run
Police in Birmingham are hunting for a woman in connection with a fatal hit and run incident on Tuesday.
A 68-year-old was hit by a car in Burney Lane, Alum Rock, just after 14:00 yesterday.
She was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead at 17:20.
The car involved in the collision, a white Fiat Marea, failed to stop at the scene but was later found abandoned in Old Moat Way, Ward End, with front end damage and a shattered windscreen. It has been recovered and will be forensically examined for clues.
Collision Investigators have now launched an urgent enquiry to trace the driver of the car who is described as an Asian man of large build.
Sergeant Hughes, said: "We urgently need to hear from anyone who can help us identify the driver. If you witnessed the collision and have yet to speak to police then I'd urge you to call us on the 101 number. Similarly, we'd like to hear from anyone who saw the white Fiat Marea - very noticeable with its windscreen smashed - being driven around Ward End and especially anyone who saw it being parked up in Old Moat Way.
"I'd also urge the driver of the car to do the right thing and get in touch so he can put across his side of the story and explain how the collision occurred."
Anyone with information should contact West Midlands Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
