Coroner's Office Appeal For Next Of Kin

Liverpool Coroner's Office has appealed for the public's help in tracing the next of kin of 73-year-old Michael McDonnell who was found dead on Friday, 3 July in Cressington.

Mr McDonnell was found at his home address on Howard Drive.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Anyone who can provide information that may help the coroner's office trace next of kin is asked to call Carole Metcalf at Liverpool Coroner's Office on 0151 225 5065.

Sefton Coroner's Office has appealed for the public's help in tracing the family of Mark Gerald Parker. Mr Parker, of no fixed abode, died on Saturday 06 June in Southport. It is understood that officials have been unable to trace the 40-year-old's next of kin.

New Code Of Standards For Coroners Introduced
A new code of standards for coroners in England and Wales has come into effect today following complaints that families could wait years for a hearing. Under the new legal framework, introduced by the Ministry of Justice, inquests should be completed within six months or "or as soon as is reasonably practicable".

Inquest Finds 'Tombstoning' Deaths Were 'Accidental'
An inquest has found that the deaths of two men who jumped off Clacton Pier were "accidental". John Castleman, 48 and Kelvin Rothwell, 43 jumped from the pier after a day of drinking on July 7 last year, an inquest at Chelmsford heard. Deputy Coroner Jolanta McKenzie presented two verdicts of death due to "immersion in sea water".

Ministers Must Be 'Better Informed' On Police Cuts - NAO
The Home Office needs to be "better informed" on how to reduce police force funding in England and Wales, according to a recent report. The National Audit Office (NAO) has revealed funding decreased by £2.3 billion (25%) to police and crime commissioners between 2010-11 and 2015-16.
