Football Fans Arrested Over Pub Attack In North London
Six Everton football fans have been arrested in connection with an attack outside a pub in North London.
Scotland Yard carried out the early morning raids today 2 July.
Six males, aged between 15 and 54-years-old, were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in the Crawley area of Sussex.
At approximately 6pm on 16 May, clashes broke out between a group of around 30 Everton supporters who attacked a smaller group of Newcastle United and Hull City supporters drinking outside the Millers Pub in Caledonian Road, Islington.
All three teams had played in London that day.
A 51-year-old man was taken to hospital for a head injury.
The incident was captured by CCTV cameras and mobile phone footage
Investigating officers were able to circulate footage of the incident to other forces, resulting in arrest warrants being issued.
Merseyside Police helped to identify some of the suspects via the captured footage.
Det Ch Ins Andy Barnes, of Operation Arrowtip, said: "Operation Arrowtip is the Met's response to football related crime and disorder. Violence amongst supporters has no place in football; be it before, during or after a match.
"These investigations that lead to operations like today show that no matter where you are from, or who you support, UK policing will work together to identify suspects and take action against them."
Three people were arrested shortly after the incident, a 52-year-old man on suspicion of three counts of assault, and two men on suspicion of affray.
All three were bailed to return at a later date.
The seven people arrested in today's raids have been bailed pending further enquiries.
