Two Men Killed After Vehicle Collides With Tree

Two men have been killed after a vehicle crash in Lancashire.

The incident happened shortly before 4pm on 29 June.

It is understood the car containing three men from Preston came off Lea Lane and collided with a tree.

The 25-year-old driver and 24-year-old passenger were confirmed dead at the scene.

Another passenger, a 23-year-old, was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for his wounds, including a fractured pelvis and leg injuries.

Adam Dawson of the Road Policing Unit said: "This is a tragic set of circumstances in which two young men have lost their lives and a third is recovering from his injuries in hospital. Specialist officers are supporting all three families at this difficult time."

Police are appealing for witnesses and information.

Recyclers Prosecuted Over Injuries
A recycling company has appeared in court after one of its workers suffered broken ribs when he was forced onto a metal conveyor belt in Preston. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) prosecuted Smurfit Kappa UK Ltd following the injury at its warehouse on Campbell Street in September 2009.

Arrests Made Over Fatal Stabbing
Three men have been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a teenager in east London earlier this year. Godwin Lawson, a 17-year-old footballer from Enfield, north London, died after he was stabbed in Stamford Hill on 27 March. Two other men, aged 18 and 20, were also stabbed during the incident.

Man Arrested Over Kieran McGrath Murder
Detectives investigating the death of a man outside a police station in Greater Manchester have arrested three men. Kieran McGrath, 26, was shot outside the Sheldon Arms pub on 04 October last year. He then drove himself to Ashton-under-Lyne police station and collapsed outside its door. He died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
