Man Arrested After Two Children Killed In Collision

A man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of two children in a collision in Handsworth.

Emergency services were called at midday on Sunday 21 June to reports that a car had collided with five pedestrians, including four children.

All five where taken to hospital for emergency treatment. Two girls, aged six and seven, died shortly after arriving in hospital.

Two other children, a girl aged 12 and a boy aged 13, are being treated serious injuries. A 39-year-old woman is said to be in a critical condition.

Police have confirmed that a 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Sergeant Steve Newbury, from the force’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We still continue to investigate the circumstances around this tragic incident and officers continue to liaise with the family of those involved.

"I am appealing for witnesses to come forward in particular I want passengers who were travelling on the number 101 bus at around noon along Grove Lane towards Oxhill road to call me or one of my team."

Anyone with information is urged to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.

Car Crash Kills Two In Wrexham
Two men have died in a road traffic collision near Wrexham. The deceased, aged 19 and 22, and from Shropshire, were travelling along the A495 Ellesmere Road, in the direction of Penley, when their car hit a tree. The incident, which involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa, happened at around 10.55pm on Thursday.
