Cyclist Killed In London

A female cyclist has died in central London after being involved in a collision with a tipper truck.

It is understood that the incident happened just before 9am at Bank Junction.

The woman, understood to be aged in her 20, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman is the eight cyclist to die in London this year.

Whale Carcass To Be Left On Beach

The carcass of a whale, believed to have been hit by ship, is to be left to decompose on the Essex coast.

The fin whales carcass was found on RSPB land near Harwich.

Scientists and landowners have agreed that the whale should be left in place, on private land with no public access, as it does not pose a public health hazard.

Thousands Of Bees Removed From Concrete Bollard

Southampton and District Beekeepers Association has removed an estimated 7,000 bees from a concrete bollard.

Thousands of bees had attached themselves to the street-level bollard in Southampton, but it is not known why.

The Beekeepers Association lured the queen bee from the bollard into a large, dark box, with the swarm following.

Dead Whale Washed-Up In Cornwall
A deceased 16.9 metre whale has now been washed up around the headland at Porthtowan in Cornwall. Initially a report was received by Falmouth Coastguard two days ago after something in the water was spotted, east of Zennor. The St Ives RNLI lifeboat investigated and confirmed the carcass, of the yet unknown species.

Rescue attempt launched for whale in the Thames
A rescue attempt has been launched after a rare whale was spotted in the Thames on Friday. The whale, which has been identified as a northern bottle-nosed whale, was spotted around 08:30am on Friday morning. It is the first time that this type of animal has been spotted in the Thames since 1913, when records began.

Stranded Whale Dies On Cornwall Beach
A whale washed up on a beach in Cornwall has died. The 65ft (20m) fin whale was reported stranded on the beach at 16:45. Some 300 people gathered on the beach but the site was cordoned off to avoid distressing the whale any further.

Vets Called To Put Down Beached Whale
A rescue team have had to call in vets to put down a whale, stranded on a beach in East Lothian. The mammal rescue team who have been trying to save the beached whale have said that there is nothing more they can do. The 15ft pilot whale was found by the coastguard at North Berwick's east beach, near the harbour, at about 09:00 this morning.

Race Against Time To Save Stranded Whale
A rescue operation is underway to save a six-tonne whale stranded on mudflats in Langstone Harbour. Firefighters with mud rescue equipment and members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BMDLR) organisation have attended the scene at Hayling Island, Hampshire to save the stricken mammal.
