Three Charged In Bolton Following Human Trafficking Investigation
Two women and a man have been charged in connection with an investigation into human trafficking and modern slavery.
Rozalia Siwak, 47, Roksana Siwak, 25, and Damian Siwak, 30, all of Gibraltar Street, Bolton, appeared before Bolton Magistrates' Court charged with intentionally arranging or facilitating the arrival in, or entry to, the United Kingdom of an individual, intending to exploit them after arrival on 23 September 2010.
They are also charged with holding a person in slavery or servitude in circumstances, namely forced labour, between 23 September 2010 and 6 June 2015.
The charges follow an investigation by officers from the Bolton Organised Crime and Child Sexual Exploitation Unit into reports that a man was trafficked into Bolton from his home country of Poland and forced to work in servitude.
Detective Inspector Charlotte Cadden said: "As a result of complex investigation, we have now charged three individuals with suspected offences linked to human trafficking and modern slavery.
"As this case will now go before the court, we cannot make any further comment and it is important we respect that legal process.
"However, I do want to stress to the people of Bolton that we will investigate all reports of human trafficking and modern slavery thoroughly. Tackling this issue here in Bolton is an absolute priority for us and I would urge anyone who does have information to speak to us, in confidence if needed."
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
