Man Arrested After Torso Found In Suitcase

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman whose torso was found in a suitcase.

On Friday 5 June, police were called to a property in Mayor's Walk, Peterborough, at around 12.30pm. They discovered the torso of a woman in a suitcase.

Officers confirmed the body had no arms, legs or head.

At around 7pm on Sunday (7 June), Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed a 57-year-old man had been arrested in the Clipston Walk area of the city. He remains in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station. It is understood the man is called Vitautas Jokubauskas.

The woman's body has been removed from the house and a post-mortem examination is due to take place at Peterborough City Hospital today.

While the body has not been identified, police have said they are keen to trace a woman, believed to be Mr Jokubauskas' partner, who is described as being about 40, slim, with black hair and also Lithuanian. No further details about her are known at this time.

Police continue to question man over body in suitcase
Police are continuing to question a 26-year-old man in connection with the discovery of the body of a teenage girl in a suitcase in Kent. Man arrested over canal torso find
A man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman's torso in a suitcase which was floating in London's Regent's Canal. Police were called to the Regents Canal in Islington on Saturday after a group of teenagers spotted a suitcase floating in the water. They managed to pull the case from the water and discovered a human torso inside.

Disabled Woman Found Dead In Car
A disabled woman found stabbed to death in her car near her home in Harlow, Essex, has been named. Jennifer Macaree was discovered in Hadley Grange on the outskirts of Harlow early on Saturday. Essex Police confirmed she was in the driver's seat of her black Vauxhall Corsa in a parking area near her flat shortly after 3am.
