Queen To Attend Women's Institute Centenary Meeting

Members of the Women's Institute (WI) will be joined by the Queen at the centenary annual meeting in London.

The meeting will take place at the Royal Albert Hall later today 4 June.

The Queen became a WI member in 1943 and will attend the event with the Princess Royal and Countess of Wessex.

The monarch is to receive the institutions commemorative baton.

The WI was introduced in 1915 to regenerate rural communities and encourage woman to become more involved in food production during World War One.

Public Name New Neighbourhoods In Olympic Park
Five new residential areas that will be built on the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have been named following a public competition. Almost 2,000 people submitted their suggestions to the Olympic Park Legacy Company, inspired by factors such as the future design for the area, its history or the Games themselves.

Young Offender Institute Condemned As 'Unacceptably Violent'
Prison inspectors have condemned a young offenders institute as "unacceptably violent", with baton use by staff "unprecedentedly high". An HM Inspectorate of Prisons report an avergae of two fights or assaults a day at Feltham Prison and Young Offender Institution, in west London.
