Police Appeal For Missing Chorley Man

Police are growing concerned for a Chorley man who has gone missing from his home.

Simon Chan, 38, of Darwen Fold Close, Buckshaw Village, Chorley was last seen at his home address shortly before 5pm on Monday 11 May.

He is described as 5ft 10ins tall with short black hair and glasses.

He was last seen wearing a grey V neck jumper, blue jeans and brown Timberland boots. He is believed to be driving a Skoda Octavia estate, registration WV08 BWW.

A police spokesman said: "We are growing increasingly concerned about Simon and I would urge anyone with information about where he might be or who sees him to contact us.

"I would also urge Simon himself to get in touch if he sees this appeal to let us know he is okay."

Man Jailed For Rape In Manchester

A man has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years after he repeatedly raped a woman in Salford.

Anthony Clarkson of St Ambrose Gardens was found guilty of three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

On Friday 6 September 2014, Clarkson raped a 48-year-old woman at a house in Pendleton.

Detective Constable Emma Cyprien said: "This was a traumatic experience for the victim and I would like to commend her bravery in coming forward and supporting a prosecution.

"Greater Manchester is nationally recognised as a model of good practice in terms of support services available to victims. If you, or anybody you know have been a victim of a rape or sexual assault, we have specialist officers to support you through the justice process."

HGV Driver Dies Following Collision In Chelmsford

A HGV driver has died following a collision on the A12 at Chelmsford.

Two HGVs were involved in a collision on the southbound carriageway near the junction with the A130 at around 4.45pm on Sunday 10 May.

The driver of one of the vehicles died at the scene.

The driver of the other was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries, however they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The southbound carriageway of the A12 was closed while recovery took place. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Rape Investigation Against MP Mark Pritchard Dropped
An investigation into rape allegations against Conservative MP Mark Pritchard have been dropped, Scotland Yard has confirmed. Mr Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, was arrested on 2 December, however he was released on police bail. He has now been informed no further action will be taken.

British man arrested on rape charge in Thailand
A British man wanted in connection with the alleged rape of an eight-year-old girl has been arrested in Thailand. Sean McMahon, 45, was arrested by police in Bangkok following a request by the British embassy. He had been working as an English teacher in the capital.

Date rape case judges 'can influence trial outcome'
A judge's summing-up can influence a jury's decision in date rape cases, a report has suggested. The research, conducted for the British Psychological Society, presented 168 university students with a date rape scenario, which included a summing-up statement by the judge, and asked them to decide on the guilt of the alleged rapist.

Remains Found In Search For Murdered Wife
Human remains have been discovered by officers searching for Kate Prout, who was murdered by her husband in 2007. Gloucestershire police said on Thursday evening that Adrian Prout took police to Redhill Farm at Redmarley, in Gloucestershire at the end of last week to show them where he had buried his wife's body.
