Stable Fire Believed To Be Arson
Police have appealed for witnesses following a fire at a stables in East Boldon, which they believe was set deliberately.
Officers were called just after 7am on Tuesday to reports that a stables at a farm in Back Station Approach had been set on fire.
A horse box, shed and horse cart were set alight causing £2,000 of damage. No
one was injured and the fire is being treated as arson.
Anyone who saw anything suspicious between 22.30 on Monday and 04.45 on Tuesday is urged to contact police on 101.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike
More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.

Second Horse Rider Killed At Equestrian Event
A 30-year-old horse rider has died after falling from his horse during the Nunney International Horse Trials in Somerset on Saturday. The Canadian rider, Jordan McDonald, who was based in Leicesterchire is the second horse rider to die on the same day. His fellow rider Benjamin Winter was killed during Germany's major four-star event at Luhmuhlen.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.
