VE Day 70th Anniversary To Be Remembered
The 70th anniversary of VE day will be marked with events across the UK this weekend.
Ceremonies signifying the commemoration will also occur in Europe.
A two-minute silence will be held at London's Cenotaph today 8 May and 200 beacons to be lit in the evening.
Germany surrendered to the UK on this day in 1945 ending six years of war.
The Queen will attend a service of thanksgiving on 20 May at Westminster Abbey.
Veterans and members of the armed forces will afterwards parade along Whitehall past the Treasury balcony from which Winston Churchill announced the end of the war.

Gleneagles Object To T In The Park
The Gleneagles Hotel has lodged a formal objection against the staging of a T in the Park event at Strathallan Castle. The objection concerns noise and traffic levels at the Castle during any proposed festivals. It is understood that the festival site and the hotel are approximately 12.

Mirror Group Settles Four Phone-Hacking Claims
The Mirror Group Newspapers has settled a number of phone-hacking claims. It is understood Cilla Black, Darren Day, Jessie Wallace and Peter Andre have all settled their claims against the newspaper group, which produces titles including the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror and Sunday People.

New Search Launched For Missing Bedford Woman
Police in Bedford have started a new search for a woman who went missing almost two years ago. Police investigating the disappearance of Sonica Hans (35) are searching the Rover Great Ouse in Bedford. Ms Hans was last seen on Boxing Day 2012, leaving the Priory Court flat she shared with her sister.

Work Starts To Close Layby On A500
An eight day scheme to permanently close a layby on the A500 at Hanchurch, near Newcastle-Under-Lyme starts on Tuesday 27 May. The work, which will be carried out overnight on weekdays, is due to end on 5 June and requires a full closure of the westbound carriageway each night.

Man Arrested Over 1992 Murder Of Teenager
Police have arrested a man in connection with the 1992 murder of Johanna Young in Norfolk. The fourteen-year-old was last seen on 23 December when she left her home and headed towards Watton town centre. She was found to be missing the next morning when her alarm clock went off at 6am, the time she was due to get up and do a paper round.
