The Who To Headline At Glastonbury

The Who are to headline the Glastonbury Festival on Sunday 28 June 28.

Roger Daltrey said: "It's great to be ending this part of a 50 year career at the most prestigious and respected music festival in the world. We'll do our best to close this years event with a bang, unless of course the fireworks get wet!"

The Who will take to the Great Oak Stage in London's Hyde Park for the fourth time on Friday 26 June with special guests Paul Weller, Kaiser Chiefs, Johnny Marr, Gaz Coombes, Sleaford Mods and Vintage Trouble.

Minimum 28-year sentence for Falconio murderer
Australian Bradley Murdoch has been sentenced to a minimum of 28 years in prison for the murder of British backpacker Peter Falconio. Murdoch, 47, was found guilty of Mr Falconio’s murder at the Northern Territory Supreme Court in Darwin. He was also convicted of the abduction and assault of Mr Falconio’s girlfriend, Joanne Lees.

Armed Robbery Gang Sentenced To 28 Years
An armed gang of men that went on a crime spree across the Black Country last year have been sentenced to a total of almost 28 years in jail. Targeting only convenience stores, the gang stole thousands of pounds of cigarettes and cash from various shops until they were caught last September.

Hutton report to be published on January 28
Lord Hutton's report into the circumstances surrounding the death of Dr David Kelly will be published in Parliament on January 28. Lord Hutton has said that the six parties represented at the Inquiry – the government, the BBC, Dr Kelly's family, the Speaker's Counsel, Andrew Gilligan and Susan Watts – will have 24 hours notice of the report.

'Deeply offensive' Section 28 clause repealed
Section 28, the controversial clause which banned local authorities from 'promoting' homosexuality, has been repealed following the Local Government Act's receipt of Royal Assent. The pressure group for gay rights, Stonewall, welcomed the move saying that Section 28 had "stigmatised lesbian, gay and bisexual people since 1988".

Kylie and White Stripes head Glastonbury line-up
Festival-goers lucky enough to snap up tickets to this year's Glastonbury festival will be able to enjoy performances from Coldplay, Kylie Minogue and the White Stripes among others. The White Stripes will headline the first night of the festival on June 24.
