Woman Arrested In Connection With Daughters Death In Road Accident

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following a road accident which killed her two-year-old daughter.

Police have said that the woman was driving a car which left the road and hit a tree on Gibbins Road, Selly Oak, at about 16:00 on Thursday.

Witnesses are understood to have done CPR on the child until paramedics arrived at the scene, who transferred her to hospital. She was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

A post mortem examination will take place to determine the precise cause of death.

The mother and three other people in the car received minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who saw the collision, and who’s not yet spoken to officers, is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit on the 101 number.
