Seven Arrested In Two Terrorism Investigations

Police have arrested seven men in separate investigations into Syria-related terrorism offences.

A 25-year-old man was detained by West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at an address in Billesley, Birmingham at about 07:00 on Wednesday morning.

Police said that that the arrest was "pre-planned", part of an "intelligence-led operation" and there was no "immediate threat to the public".

And police in Manchester detained six men at Manchester Airport on suspicion of terrorism.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said that the arrests were made as part of an investigation launched after five adults and four children were stopped on the Turkey-Syria border on 01 April.

GMP said those arrested are still in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
