Search Continues For Missing Student
Police searching for a student who went missing from a Glasgow nightclub in the early hours of Sunday morning, have reportedly found her handbag in a park.
Searches are continuing for 24-year-old Karen Buckley, who went missing after telling friends she was going to the bathroom while at Sanctuary nightclub in the city.
CCTV captured the Irish student talking to a man outside the club on the Dumbarton Road and then walking off towards the city centre. Police now know that Ms Buckley went with the man to his flat in Dorchester Avenue, in the Kelvinside area, where she spent a few hours, before leaving again at around 04:00. She has not been seen since.
Police have stressed that the man is helping with their inquiries and is not a suspect.
On Tuesday afternoon, police searching for Ms Buckley said that her handbag was found in the city's Dawsholm Park. They have appealed for anyone may have seen Ms Buckley in the early hours of Sunday morning to get in touch. They are particularly keen to trace a grey car which was seen in various locations between Milngavie and Drymen, north of Glasgow, between 11:00 and 15:00 on Monday.
Det Supt Kerr said: "The activity of this grey car on the Monday is something that we're a wee bit concerned about. This car has been seen at various locations on these roads and I want to know why."
He added: "We are gravely concerned that Karen has come to some harm, whether that is down to foul play, criminality or she has taken unwell or had an accident is obviously still to be established."
