Boat Race Spectators Rescued By RNLI

The RNLI rescued more than 50 spectators who became trapped by the tide during the University Boat Race on Saturday.

Spectators became stranded on the foreshore along Hammersmith, Chiswick and Barnes, including an eight-year-old child who had become separated from his parents.

The RNLI said they were "surprised" to find some many spectators in need of assistance.

It is understood the spectators had been watching the annual boat race along the foreshore when they were caught out by the tide.
