Two Attacked By Dog In Staffordshire
Two people have been injured after they were attacked by a dog in Mid-Staffordshire.
A three-year-old boy and his grandmother were injured in the incident, which occurred at a family farm in Mid-Staffordshire on Wednesday evening.
Shortly after 5pm, emergency services were called to the scene after a Dogue De Bordeaux – French Mastiff – dog is believed to have escaped from its pen and attacked the child and his grandmother in the farm yard.
The boy sustained a broken leg in the attack, as well as numerous cuts and puncture wounds to his face and body. His grandmother was bitten a number of times as she tried to protect her grandson.
The boy, who has not been named, is in a stable condition at Birmingham Children's Hospital having undergone an operation. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. His grandmother is recovering at the Royal Stoke Hospital after an operation to treat her wounds.
Police have said the dog has since been destroyed and a man in his 60s has been arrested and bailed under section 3A of the Dangerous Dogs Act. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Craig Greve, 23, pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court to owning the dog. Mr Greve was remanded in custody until sentencing in September.

Ellie Lawrenson suffered fatal injuries when the pit bull terrier-type dog attacked her at her grandmother's home in St Helens. Her grandmother, Jackie Simpson, 46, was also injured during the attack.

A seven-year-old boy has received serious arm and back injuries after being mauled by a Rottweiler on Southend seafront. The boy, who is from Westcliff, was paddling in the sea on Eastern Esplanade in the area opposite the turning for Chelsea Avenue at around 4.15pm on Friday.

Grandmother Cleared Over Child Dog Attack Death
The grandmother of five-year-old Ellie Lawrenson, who was mauled to death by a pit bull terrier on New Year's Day, has been cleared of her manslaughter. Jacqueline Simpson, 45, had been looking after Ellie at her home in St Helens in Merseyside at the time of the attack.
