Men In Court Following Drugs Find

Three men have appeared in court following the discovery of hundreds of cannabis plants in Bridgend, it has been reported.

The 692 plants were found at a factory unit in the town, just yards from the headquarters of South Wales Police, in November last year.

The drugs were said to have an estimated value of £831,000.

The men, named as Christopher Bennett, 61, of Port Talbot; Dale Hart, 53, of Pencoed; and Michael Smart, 37, of Pencoed appeared in court today. They have since been bailed until 29 April when they will appear before Cardiff Crown Court.

According to the BBC, Mr Smart also faces a second charge of possessing cocaine.

Abu Hamza remanded in custody
The radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri has been remanded in custody at Bow Street Magistrates Court today. Abu Hamza, who faces a total of nine charges, appeared by videolink from Belmarsh prison. He was remanded in prison until July 23. The 46-year-old was arrested on May 27 on an extradition warrant served by the US government.

Men In Court Over Organist's Murder
Two men have appeared in court over the murder of a church organist who was attacked on his way to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. Alan Greaves was on his way to St Saviour’s church near High green in Sheffield when he was attacked. The 68-year-old father of four died three days later after suffering severe head injuries.

Crown Court For Siddiqi Murder Accused
Two men charged with the murder of 17-year-old Aamir Siddiqi have appeared in court this morning. The men appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court and have been remanded in custody. Ben Hope, 36, and Jason Richards, 35, are accused of killing Aamirr Saddiqi and attempting to murder his parents at their home in Roath, Cardiff on 11 April.

Men In Court Over Boxer's Murder
Two men have appeared in court today charged with the murder of former British heavyweight boxer, James Oyebola. Rene McKoy, 19, and Kanyanta Mulenga, 22, both from south London appeared before West London Magistrates' Court on Thursday. They were remanded in custody to appear before the Old Bailey on January 3.
