Electrical Fault Sparked Fatal Swansea House Fire
Mid and West Wales Fire Service has found that a fatal house fire in Swansea was caused by an electrical fault.
The homeowner was killed in the blaze on the Llangwm estate, near Penplas, Penlan, at around midnight on Monday.
Two other people and a family pet dog were rescued from the burning building.
The service said in a statement on Wednesday that a joint inquiry with South Wales Police, a forensic scientist and fire and rescue service investigators, concluded the blaze was accidental.
"The presence of working smoke alarms in the property had alerted other members of the family enabling them to escape the property, and undoubtedly prevented further fatalities in view of how quickly the fire developed and spread," the statement added.
