62-Year-Old Admits Possession Of Bomb-Making Materials

Firefighters tackling a blaze at a tower block in Edinburgh uncovered bomb-making equipment.

The man who lived at the flat, 62-year-old Faris al-Khori, pleaded guilty to possessing explosive ingredients and instructions on how to prepare bombs.

It is understood that after extinguishing a fire at Muirhouse tower block, firefighters went from flat to flat to make sure everyone had been evacuated. Upon forcing entry to Mr Al-Khori's flat they reportedly found items that gave them "cause for concern".

Upon analysis it was found that Mr Al-Khori had chemicals, ball bearings, nuts and bolts, and a bag of toxic beans that can be used to produce the poison Ricin.

Mr Al-Khori is to be sentenced next month.
