Wales To Ban Smoking In Cars With Children

Welsh Health Minister Mark Drakeford has confirmed that a ban on smoking in cars carrying children is to be introduced on 01 October.

The ban, which will see a £50 fine issued to anyone caught breaking the new law, is being introduced in Wales on the same day as it comes into force in England.

Minister Drakeford said: "Children and young people have the right to breathe clean air and enjoy smoke-free environments.

"Protecting children from exposure to second-hand smoke will help give them the best start in life.

"Introducing regulations to stop people smoking in cars carrying children will help us to do this."
