One Arrested In Merseyside Anti-Terrorism Raids
Anti-terrorism police have carried out raids on five addresses in Merseyside.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested by officers from the North West Counter Terrorism Unit (NWCTU) and Merseyside Police on suspicion of planning acts of terrorism.
The searches, which police said where carried out due to "intelligence received", were in View Road, Rainhill, St Helens, and on Prescot Road and Holt Road in Liverpool.
It is understood that there is "no current threat" of a terrorist attack.
Det Ch Supt Tony Mole from the NWCTU said: "We are taking all measures necessary to ensure public safety, which is our primary concern."
"However, it is absolutely vital to stress - and I hope at the same time reassure the public - that there is no current threat or evidence of an imminent attack."

Man Arrested On Terrorism Offences
A man has been arrested in Luton on suspicion of fundraising and inciting terrorism overseas, it has been reported. The Metropolitan Police said the 35-year-old has been taken into custody in London. Searches are now being carried out at three properties; two are in east London and the third is in Luton.

Fireworks Seized By Authorities In Liverpool
Police in Merseyside have seized a quantity of fireworks from a business premises on Liverpool. Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports of that fireworks were being stored without a licence at an address on Smithdown Road in Edge Hill. The seizure came just 24 hours after fireworks were seized from premises in Birkenhead.
