SSE Announce Price Cuts

SSE is the latest of the 'big six' energy firms to announce a cut in prices, alongside an extension of its guarantee not to raise gas and electricity prices before July 2016.

The energy supplier will cut its prices by 4.1% from 30 April, reducing the average household bill by about £28.

It follows similar cuts made by E/On, British Gas, Scottish Power and Npower; EDF is the last of the so-called 'big six' yet to announce any kind of price cut.

The energy firms have cut prices due to a fall in the price of wholesale gas.
