Corrie Actress Admits Drink-Driving
Coronation Street actress Barbara Knox admitted to drink-driving on 10 March last year and has been banned from driving for a year.
The 81-year-old actress, who plays Rita Tanner in the soap, pleaded guilty to the charge following an incident in Knutsford, Chesire.
Knox was a passenger in a Jaguar which was being driven by her daughter, Maxine Ashcroft.
Police stopped the car and Ashcroft was found to be almost three times over the legal limit.
She was banned from driving for two years last year.
Police offered Knox a lift home at the time, however she refused.
Officers followed her to a supermarket car park. She was breathalysed and was found to be over the legal limit.
Knox was also fined £3,000 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £1,750.
