ScottishPower Latest Energy Supplier To Announce Price Cuts
ScottishPower is the latest energy company to announce a price cut, with a reduction of 4.8% to be introduced from 20 February.
This will result is an average reduction of £33 per year for customers on their standard tariff, around 1.1 million of their two million customers.
It follows earlier announcements by British Gas and E.On.
Prices cuts are being attributed to a fall in the cost of wholesale gas.
Hospital Apologises For Banning Whistleblower Paramedic
A ban that prevented a whistleblower paramedic from entering two hospitals in Worcestershire has been lifted.
West Midlands Ambulance Service employee, Stuart Gardner, had been banned from Worcester Royal Hospital Trust after he raised concerns regarding care at its A&E department.
The hospital trust claimed that Mr Gardner's claims had "upset staff".
The Trust has now apologised to Mr Gardner and lifted the ban.
RSPCA Appeal After Frozen Puppies Found Outside Supermarket
The RSPCA has appealed for information after three puppies were found frozen to death inside a holdall left outside a Greater Manchester supermarket.
The animal charity reports that the week-old puppies were found on Monday morning outside Aldi in Higher Bridge Street, Bolton.
It is believed that the animals were left there sometime on Sunday night, when temperatures dropped below freezing.
The RSPCA have appealed for anyone with any information about the puppies to contact them.

Summonses Issued For Five Men Over Paris Metro Incident
The Metropolitan Police have issued summonses in connection with racist chanting on the Paris Metro ahead of a Chelsea game in February. It is understood the summonses are related to a police application for football banning orders. The men are required to appear before Waltham Forest Magistrates' Court on 25 March.

With less than ten days to go until the FIFA World Cup, the Metropolitan Police Service are sending out a stark warning to anyone in London who is subject to a football banning order. Today, Wednesday 2 June, is the final day of the passport surrender for the World Cup, so anyone who does not surrender their passport as ordered will be arrested.

Tougher penalties for football hooligans introduced
The government is set to remove existing time limitations on key football banning order laws and introduce penalties to tackle football disorder. Banning orders prevent known troublemakers from attending domestic matches as well as travelling overseas to matches such as tonight's England Euro 2008 qualifying match in Spain.
