Two policemen to face misconduct hearing

Two Northumbria Police officers are to face a misconduct hearing over an incident in which a patrol car struck a pedestrian, according to the Police Complaints Authority.

In April 2002, Mrs Linda Donaldson (50) was struck by a police car as she used a pedestrian crossing in the Walker district of Newcastle upon Tyne. Mrs

Donaldson has never regained consciousness.

On 4 June a constable pleaded guilty, at Newcastle Crown Court, to dangerous driving and was sentenced to six months imprisonment, suspended for two years.

The constable will appear at the misconduct hearing in relation to his criminal

conviction.

A control room constable will also be required to answer an allegation

that he “failed in the performance of his duties” because he “inaccurately relayed information received from a member of the public”.
