Police Appeal Following Serious Crash In Liverpool
Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a serious crash in Walton on Tuesday, 6 January.
At about 6.15pm a 28-year-old man was cycling along Hall Lane near to the bus stop just past The Black Bull public house when his bicycle was allegedly clipped by a dark coloured car.
The cyclist fell from his bicycle and struck nearby railings outside Longmoor Community Primary School.
The cyclist sustained a broken neck and was taken to hospital for treatment. He remains in a stable condition.
The dark coloured car that is reported to have been in contact with the bicycle failed to stop at the scene.
An investigation is on-going.
Man Charged In Connection With House Burglary In Oldham
A man has been charged after a house was burgled in Oldham.
Michael Kitson of Hillside Avenue, Oldham has been charged with burglary and arson with intent to endanger life and appeared at Oldham Magistrates court where he was remanded to appear at Manchester Crown Court at a later date.
At around 2am Thursday 1st January 2015, a man broke into an address on Woodleigh Road in the Austerlands area of Oldham and started a fire within the property before leaving through the back door.
Emergency services were called and upon arrival at the scene, the fire service found address ablaze but were able to bring the fire under control.
Wates Wins Two Refurbishment Contracts
Wates Living Space has scooped two refurbishment contracts worth a total of £5.2m.
The firm has been appointed to deliver a £3.2m external refurbishment programme for Nottingham City Homes and a £2m contract to install external wall insulation for over 500 flats and houses on behalf of Gedling Homes.
The refurbishment contract for Nottingham City Homes will see three 15-storey residential blocks in Sneinton receive external wall insulation, new A-rated windows and doors, new enclosed external balconies, roofing and a new plant and power room.
The tower blocks will also be connected to the Nottingham City District Heating network, which provides energy efficient heating to domestic and commercial customers across the city. The work is due to be completed in winter 2015 and the blocks will remain fully occupied throughout the duration of the project.
330 houses and 178 flats will receive external wall insulation under a contract with Gedling Homes. As part of the works, Wates Living Space will also enhance the external appearance of the block of flats at Walton Court.

Oldham Explosion Inquiry Continues
Oldham Council and a range of partner organisations across all sectors are continuing work to assist residents affected by Tuesday's explosion in Shaw. Police now say the death of the two-year-old, named as Jamie Heaton, is being treated as suspicious. The explosion in Buckley Street, also left a 27-year-old man in hospital with burns.

Row Escalates Over Disclosure Of MPs Property Lettings
The publication of material, which could show ministers are renting their taxpayer-funded homes to each other, is being blocked by MPs, it has been claimed. IPSA, the external regulator, which took over responsibility for MPs' expenses in 2010, is due to release routine details of expenses claims on Thursday.

A man has appeared in court charged with raping a 13-year-old boy in the toilets of a Manchester shopping centre. Police were called to the Spindles shopping centre in Oldham, Greater Manchester, around 16.35 on Monday afternoon following reports of an assault on a young teenager.
