Five-Hour Stand-Off Ends Peacefully

A five-hour stand-off has ended with the arrest of a 43-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.

Armed police were called to a flat in Alexandra Road in Blackpool at about 15:20 following reports that a man had a weapon.

Police have said that the stand-off ended when the man left the flat voluntarily. A woman who is said to have been in the flat was taken to hospital for treatment of a minor head injury.

"Specialist officers negotiated with a 43-year old-man in a flat for around five hours before he voluntarily left the flat," A Lancashire Police spokesperson said.

"A weapon has been recovered."

Armed Standoff Ends In Arrest
An armed standoff in the village of Cynwyd, North Wales, has ended with the arrest of a man. North West Police called armed officers and negotiators to the village at 21:45 on Wednesday after a man aged in his 20s had barricaded himself in a house and threatened police with a firearm.

Brian Farmer Murder - Three Charged
Three people have been charged with the murder of former soldier Brian Farmer in Yardley, Birmingham last year. 64-year-old Mr Farmer was found dead by police at his flat in Bakeman House on Coventry Road on Saturday 19 May, 2012. Police arrested three people in connection with the murder a short time after the discovery.
