Toilet Block Sells For More Than £400,000 At Auction

A former public toilet in Surrey has been sold at auction for £415,000, more than four times its estimate.

The one-storey former toilet block at Church Street in Walton-on-Thames is in a conservation area of the town and closed as a toilet in 2009.

At auction the toilet block was said to have "potential for redevelopment subject to obtaining all necessary consents".

Police in Oxfordshire have appealed to members of the public who tried to rescue a man from a burning toilet block in Oxford to contact them. Jonathan Martin Mills, 49, from Oxford, died in the blaze on Southampton Street, Faringdon, at about 13:55 on Monday afternoon.

NHS Trust fined £325K Following Major Data Breach
Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust has been served with a Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) of £325,000 following a serious breach of the Data Protection Act (DPA), the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) said today. The fine is the highest issued by the ICO since it was granted the power to issue CMPs in April 2010.

Suspended Sentence And Driving Ban For Former Footballer
Former Premiership footballer, Steve Claridge, has received a suspended six-month jail sentence and a driving ban for dangerous driving. Claridge, 42, of Fareham, Hants, was convicted last month of driving at 100mph on the M42 near Solihull, West Midlands on 30 December 2006 in "treacherous conditions".

Mother Denies Manslaughter Of Son Found Starved To Death
A 43-year-old woman has been charged with the manslaughter of her son, whose body was found in his cot almost two years after he had died. The mummified body of Hamzah Khan was found at his family home in Bradford, West Yorkshire in September 2011, having laid in a cot in his mother's bedroom for 21 months after his death.
