Weapons Found By Electricity Board Worker

An electricity board worker has uncovered a stash of weapons, said to include guns and swords, at a house in Neath Port Talbot.

Police have said that they were called to a property in Heol Cae Gurwen, Gwaun, Cae Gurwen, at about 10:30 on Thursday morning.

A South Wales Police spokesman said: "As a precaution and to ensure public safety, a police cordon was put around the house and specialist officers were deployed to the scene to carry out an assessment."

Chelsea FC Adopt The Living Wage

Chelsea FC have announced a commitment to the living wage, with all staff at the club in London receiving at least £9.15 an hour and £7.85 outside the capital.

The voluntary wage scheme, established by the Living Wage Foundation, promotes a wage needed to cover "basic living".

Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck said: "We believe the move to the living wage underlines our commitment to ensuring that all our employees receive a fair rate of pay for their hard work and dedication. Quite simply, it is the right thing to do."

Eric Morecambe Statue Reinstated After Repairs

A statue of comedian Eric Morecambe has been restored to its original site overlooking Morecambe Bay after being damaged when a man tried to saw one of its legs off.

The statues designer took the piece to a London foundry where it was repaired before being reinstated.

A man was detained under the mental health act following the attack in October.

Increase In Living Wage Rate
The UK Living Wage Rate has risen by 2.6% from today, Monday, and set to £7.85 per hour. According to the Living Wage Foundation it is 21% higher than the national minimum wage of £6.50 per hour. This will improve the take home pay of 35,000 low-paid workers across the country who are employed by over 1,000 Living Wage accredited organisations.

Green Party Calls For £10 Minimum Wage
The Green Party is calling for a £10 minimum wage for everyone by 2020. The party believes every worker over the age of 16 should be paid at least the minimum wage and would abolish the age-based differential rates currently in place. Raising the minimum wage to living wage levels would benefit an estimated 5.

National Gallery Staff Return To Work Following Strike
Staff members at the National Gallery have returned to work after an agreement was reached to end a dispute over privatisation. Members of the Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union took industrial action on 11 August. Since February, it has taken more than 100 days of strike action.

'Billions' Of Welfare Cuts Announced In Budget
Chancellor George Osborne has unveiled the first Conservative Budget since 1996 at the House of Commons. The Budget will see billions of welfare cuts come into effect, while a new "national living wage" of over £9 an hour will be introduced by 2020. Student grants are also being dropped, while benefits will be frozen.

Lidl UK To Introduce Living Wage
Supermarket chain Lidl is to adopt the Living Wage from 01 October 2015, following a record year with sales reaching over £4 billion. Lidl is the first UK supermarket to make the move and will see all Lidl UK employees receive a minimum of £8.20 per hour across England, Scotland and Wales, and £9.35 per hour in London.
