More Than 70 Arrests Made At West London Rally
More than 70 people involved in a "die-in" protest at Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush, west London, have been arrested.
It is understood that around 600 people gathered at the shopping centre to demonstrate in solidarity with rallies being held in America in relation to the death of Eric Garner – a man who died during an arrest in New York in July.
Police said that 76 arrests were made after a "breakaway group" of protesters attacked security staff and damaged property.
It is understood a group of protesters inside the west London shopping centre, were asked to leave the premises and join a larger group assembled outside.
However, a group then tried to re-enter the centre and were arrested on suspicion of public order offences.
One man was also held on suspicion of assault.
Police said their investigation into the incident is "ongoing".
