Passenger Dies On Transatlantic Flight

A woman has died on a United Airlines flight from Heathrow to the United States.

A doctor is believed to have tried to assist the woman, 23, however the passenger failed to recover.

The plane landed at Newark Airport in New Jersey. The cause of her death is not yet known.

United Airlines spokesman said: "United confirms that a passenger passed away on flight UA115 from London Heathrow to New York/Newark on December 1 2014.

"We offer our condolences to the passenger's family. For privacy reasons, it would not be appropriate for us to comment further."

United Airlines pilot Erwin Washington, 51, was arrested as the Chicago-bound flight, which had 124 passengers and 11 crew members on board, was preparing to depart, shortly after mid-day yesterday.

The 10-year-old grandson of Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone surgery after being involved in a car crash with his mother and sister. Nadine Ferguson, 30, the ex-wife of Sir Alex's son Darren, was airlifted to hospital in Manchester following the crash near her Cheshire home on Tuesday.
