Rochester And Strood By-Election Underway
Polls are now open in the Rochester and Strood by-election.
Thirteen candidates are competing for the seat vacated by Mark Reckless, who defected to UKIP from the Conservatives.
Polls opened at 7am this morning and will remain open until 10pm.
Mr Reckless will contest the seat for UKIP, alongside Kelly Tolhurst for the Conservatives, Naushabah Khan for Labour, Geoff Juby for the Lib Dems and Clive Gregory of the Green Party.
Also standing are Hairy Knorm Davidson of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, Independents Mike Barker, Christopher Challis, Stephen Goldsbrough and Charlotte Rose; Jayda Fransen of Britain First, Nick Long of People Before Profit and Dave Osborn of the Patriotic Socialist Party.
The results will be anounced on Friday.

UKIP Win Rochester And Strood By-Election
Mark Reckless has won the Rochester and Strood by-election, giving the UK Independence Party its second elected MP. The former Conservative won 16,867 votes for his new party, beating his former party by 2,920. Kelly Tolhurst took 13,947 for the Conservatives, while Naushabah Khan took 6,713 for Labour.

Conservatives Win Newark By-Election
The Conservative Party have described their win the Newark by-election as "comfortable", taking almost 7,500 ahead of UKIP. Despite this, Nigel Farage has cut the Conservatives majority by half. Tory candidate Robert Jenrick held the seat with 17,431 (45%) of the vote.

Douglas Carswell has won the Clacton by-election, becoming the first elected MP for the UK Independence Party (UKIP). Carswell was contesting the seat he had previously held for the Conservative Party, before he defected to UKIP last month.

A Coroner has returned open verdicts in relation to the deaths of 13 people in a fire in New Cross in 1981. All had died when a fire swept through a house in south-east London where a birthday party was being held.
