Woman Comes Round After 19 Day Coma
A woman who has been in a coma for 19 days after prematurely giving birth to twins, who later died, has come round.
27-year-old Jocelyn Bennett called an ambulance to her home on 29 October, complaining of severe pains. She was 32 weeks pregnant with twins at the time.
When emergency crews arrived at about 05:51 they were unable to gain access to the flats. It is understood they called police at 06:03, who arrived seven minutes later.
In hospital Ms Bennett's twins were delivered by emergency Caesarean, however, they died a short time later. They had suffered brain damage due to a lack of oxygen.
Ms Bennett is understood to have showed signs of waking over the weekend, and by Monday her condition was described as "stable, but with a long way to go".
According to reports Ms Bennett has not yet been told about the deaths of her twins, but her family are prepared to do so when she asks.
Birmingham City Council are investigating what happened and why paramedics couldn't gain access to the flats.
