Four Arrested In Fraudulent RFC Sale Investigation

Police investigating the alleged fraudulent sale of Rangers Football Club in 2011 have arrested four men.

Officers from Police Scotland, Surrey Police, Cheshire Police and Thames Valley Police, carried out a joint operation that saw four addresses across the UK raided at the same time.

Gary Withey, David Grier, Paul Clark and David Whitehouse were held during the early morning raids.

Three of the men, Clark, Whitehouse and Grier, are understood to work for Duff and Phelps – who were appointed administrators at the club.

The fourth man, Mr Withey, is said to work for law firm Collier Bristow, which represented Craig Whyte before he bought Rangers from Sir David Murray for £1 in 2011.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Four men have been detained as a result of the ongoing investigation into the alleged fraudulent acquisition of Rangers Football Club."

Police say that the three-year investigation is ongoing.
