Man charged over drugs find
An Italian man appeared at Crawley Magistrates Court this morning charged with attempting to smuggle approximately 20 kilos of cocaine through Gatwick Airport.
On Sunday, Dario Berardi (32), an Italian national, was arrested in the South Terminal at Gatwick Airport. The haul has an estimated value of £1.2 million.
Mr Berardi had arrived from Bridgetown, Barbados, on a Virgin Atlantic Flight. He has been remanded in custody for seven days.

Final UK Stage Of Tour de France Underway
The final stage of the Tour de France to be held in the UK got underway this morning in Cambridge. The 197 riders will follow a 96-mile route from Cambridge to London, with the winner of the stage expected to reach the city before 16:00 today. The projected timings for today's stage are: 12:15 : Cambridge.

Race hate preacher deported
Race hate cleric Abdullah al-Faisal has been deported from Britain, Home Secretary John Reid has confirmed. The 39-year-old, who is of Jamaican origin, is understood to have left Gatwick airport, bound for Jamaica, around midday, accompanied by two police escorts and an immigration officer.

Entwistle extradited to US
The British man whose wife and baby daughter were found shot dead in Massachusetts last month was extradited to the US today to face murder charges. Neil Entwistle, 27, who had agreed to return to the US to face the charges, was handed over to US Marshals at Gatwick Airport. He was arrested in Royal Oak tube station in London on February 9.

Gatwick Airport Begins Ebola Screening
Gatwick Airport has started screening passengers arriving from countries currently at risk of the Ebola virus. The screening will commence at the north terminal of the airport, but will be extended at the south terminal by the end of this week.

Unexploded Bomb Found Near Gatwick Airport
Workmen have uncovered an unexploded wartime bomb near Gatwick airport. The 1.5ft shell was found on the A23 London Road in Crawley, which leads to the airport. The road has been closed in both directions but it is understood that airport is operating as normal. An Army bomb disposal team are on site examining the device.
