FBU Vow To Fight Firefighters Dismissal Over Strike Action

The Fire Brigade Union (FBU) has vowed to challenge the dismissal of a firefighter, who did not work a shift during a national strike.

Ricky Matthews, from Buckinghamshire, was sacked amid claims that he had illegally taken part in strike action.

The fire service claims that Mr Matthews was sacked because the FBU did not give the required seven days strike notice.

The FBU maintain that the strike was legal, and pledged to fight the dismissal of Mr Matthews.

Firefighters are currently holding national strikes in a dispute over pay.
