Smith Commission To Hold First Meeting In Edinburgh
The first meeting of the Smith Commission, established to debate more powers for the Scottish Parliament, is to be held today (Wednesday) in Edinburgh.
Representatives of the Scotland's main political parties will meet with the commission's chairman Lord Smith of Kelvin at the Green Investment Bank in the city.
The commission was set up following devolution proposals put forward by the SNP, Labour, the Conservatives, the Lib Dems and the Scottish Green Party.
It is understood that the commission is expected to produce a report by 30 November.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has said Scotland generated 7% more renewable energy in 2012 than the previous year. In its latest report, it said 14,600 Gigawatt hours were generated in Scotland from renewable energy sources such as wind and hydro.

The Scottish government have announced it will establish an expert commission to look at maximising returns from North Sea oil and gas for an independent Scotland. The SNP have published a paper detailing the administration's plan for the industry in an independent Scotland, highlighting that it would not increase the sectors tax burden.

Lockerbie Bomber To Launch Fresh Appeal
Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohamed Al Megrahi is to begin a second appeal against his conviction for blowing up a Pan Am flight 21 years ago. An appeal hearing is to begin in Edinburgh almost two years after the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) referred the case of the Libyan to the appeal court.
