Three Arrested In Residential School Abuse Inquiry
Police in Wales have arrested two women and a man in connection with allegations of physical abuse at a residential school for young people with learning disabilities.
A 62-year-old man and the women, aged 49 and 60, have been arrested by Dyfed-Powys Police on suspicion of child neglect as part of an investigation at Womaston Children's Home and School at Walton, near Presteigne.
The school took children aged between 11 and 19 with learning disabilities, including autism and challenging behaviour, and was run by the charity MacIntyre.
It closed on 31 August.

£1bn Towards Free School Meals
£1bn is being unlocked to fund the Department of Education's free school meals commitment. The news, announced by deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, follows an announcement in September that every child in reception, year 1 and year 2 in state-funded schools will receive a free school lunch.

Care for people with learning disabilities has come under fire after a report found the NHS and councils failed to provide appropriate health and social services care. The Health Service and Local Government Ombudsman ruled that one man died as a result of these failings and the death of a second man could have been avoided.

Detectives investigating allegations of historical sexual abuse at two music schools in Manchester have arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of rape. A number of allegations of abuse have been made against staff at Chetham's School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music. The latest arrest brings the investigations total to four.
