S4C To Move Its Headquarters
S4C has confirmed it is to move its headquarters from Cardiff to Carmarthen.
The broadcaster signed a deal with the University of Wales to see its relocation. The move will bring together a range of expertise to provide training and other job opportunities, it has been reported.
S4C first announced its intention to move in March this year.
A total of 50 staff will relocated from its Cardiff base, while it is thought an additional 150 jobs could also be created. The new headquarters is expected to be operational by 2018.
In a statement, S4C Authority chairman Huw Jones said: "Our intention at the outset of this process was to create a prosperous future for our service, while at the same time stimulating linguistic and cultural developments, as well as economic benefits to the region of our new headquarters."
Professor Medwin Hughes, university vice chancellor, added: "The vision is an ambitious one that offers the opportunity to create a unique and exciting entity that will impact positively on the economy, the community and the Welsh language across south west Wales."
