PCS Announce Civil Servants Strike Action

Up to 200,000 civil servants are to strike over pay, the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) has announced.

The union, whose members include museum staff, job centre workers, driving test centre employees and port and airport personnel, claim that continuing pay freezes will result in an overall cut in income of 20%, in real terms.

The union is calling for an end to cuts that "are slashing the public servants' living standards at the same time as millionaires are handed tax cuts and tens of billions of pounds is stolen from our public finances every year through tax evasion."
